Age

AGE

At least 21 YEARS of age at the time of application.

NCPD does not impose a maximum age-limit to apply or work as an

NCPD Officer. 

EDUCATION

Graduation from a U.S. High School, G.E.D., or equivalent from a U.S. institution.

ADDITIONAL

Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License. (Out-of-State applicants must have a valid license for their home state and obtain a S.C. License before their start date.)

Must have good employment and credit history. (No Civil Judgements or Defaulted Student Loans.)

​

Must be in good physical and mental condition.

​

Are required to undergo a polygraph examination, physical examination, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.

​

Are required to submit to a physical agilities test (PAT).

​

Are required to take a reading/vocabulary test.

CITIZENSHIP

The State of South Carolina requires that Police Officers be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
